Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Destin, FL - Part Two

Good morning! Just a little round-up of my favorite photos and events of our time together in the sunshine state. This week is going to be a busy one because I'm trying to get a few more items stocked at Rose & Ruffle AND I'm conquering that long-ish Preparing for Baby To-Do list. Wish me luck!

Yet again, my pride is making me address the unsightly lines across my belly, which is from a riding-up tankini top, that is also, well, not incredibly supportive if you catch my drift.  :/

Gosh. I wish my kids had some personality.
=)

My very first trip to Sonic! Exciting times, people.

Baby wanted some Vitamin D. I think he got lots over that week and a half.  :)

This was taken the night of the nearby tornado in Pensacola- can you see the intensity of those waves?!? They were relentless.
The next morning, still ferocious and kind of angry. The winds finally calmed down by late afternoon and then the weather was perfect again.

A few shots of the house we rented- I loved it!

We practically lived on this deck- that warm sunshine felt SOOOO wonderful!

For the sake of refraining from being completely redundant, if you'd like to read any particulars about some of these photos, lots are on instagram with some background stories- you can find me HERE if you want. Happy Monday!

Baby's Quilt & Some Pregnancy Updates

You know how when you've got a million and one things to do, this one thing in particular keeps calling out to you, even though it has absolutely nothing to do with what you're supposed to be doing? Yeah, I do, too. I was supposed to be organizing and packing for our big trip when I couldn't stop thinking about making this little one a quilt. Great. ;)

I'd been scouring the internet for weeks looking for inspiration, plus I haven't made a quilt for years and years, so it had to be fairly easy. I ended up just making my own design, as usual, and though it gave me a slight headache or two at times, I just love it to pieces now that it's done.

I bought a few fat quarters but used fabric I already had for the most part. These are 3.5 inch squares.

With the white sashes and strips... I had spent most of the day working on the top, and I knew I needed to simply fold it up and put it away until we got back, otherwise I'd never have gotten anything packed! I sure loved looking at this photo while we were away- it made me grin from ear to ear thinking that in just a few weeks, a little someone will be wrapped up in it!

I'd also never made a quilt with a minky or other soft backing, and I wasn't sure how I'd like it (or if I could even get it to work right). I used the machine for the binding for the first time as well, though I think I did everything that the tutorials tell you not to do. It's not perfect, which bugged me for a little while, but a few wayward seams here and there shouldn't make any difference. This quilt was made with all my love, for my little love.

Oh! And in the pic above, it's draped over this! There is an infant car seat in my house! Crazy! God has been so faithful to me and our family, and I am eternally grateful.

And here are some shots of this growing bump over the past couple of weeks. We're so close now!

 33 weeks!
ugh. This photo hurts me a little, but Caleb wanted to pose with me when he saw what I was up to, and he looks so adorable

 34 weeks, in FL!
how about a close-up of that bump? yikes!

This week, 35 weeks! The week started out fabulous, sunshine and warm temps and has consistently gone downhill since then. I don't think I've felt very well since that walk that day. Oh well. It's worth it.

Today I'm going shopping with my Mom! Have a great Thursday! I've got some more vacation pics that I'll post soon.

I almost forgot...I'm listing some spring and summer pretties in the shop this week, so check them out if you're looking for something special. I'll just link to the Rose & Ruffle blog HERE, and that has direct links to my shop.  =)

Destin, Florida - Part One

impromptu family portrait on the front porch- I feel like a giant but I think it's because I had to sit on the edge of the seat and Bill was leaning back...maybe... ?

with Mimi & Grampy, my parents

cartwheels and handstands by the shore. all day every day.

my oldest son, soon to be big brother to another little one. my heart cannot even take it

not a super photo of the dolphins, but it was such a fun afternoon out on the water watching them frolic

little miss captain- she's pretty shy so we were surprised she wanted to go up front and take the wheel. she loved it!

preview of my maternity photo shoot - I never had nice photographs taken when I was pregnant with my other boys and I desperately wanted a few "pretty pictures" to treasure from this special time

We got home Saturday after spending ten glorious days in the Florida sunshine, and while the trip back wasn't exactly the smoothest, it was such a wonderful time away. It was such a joy not having to deal with snow and boots/shoes- my trusty flip flops took me everywhere I wanted to go, and I was a walking machine down there! I didn't even know that I could walk that much because at home, I feel kind of stuck inside most of the time, which doesn't make a swollen-footed pregnant gal feel all that fit. It was absolutely fabulous!

These are all pics from my Nikon- I'll upload the phone pics soon because there are some fun ones on there. The last one is from a little photo shoot we did. I had ordered the dress online specifically for this and wasn't sure I even liked it when it arrived in the mail, but it ended up being one of my favorites. I'll share the rest of the maternity photos in another post. A fun tidbit: tomorrow I can say that I'm having a baby next month. (!!!!!!!)
